that you will enjoy communicating to the whole world instantly through your Atlantic
email! This document is intended to help you create an email account using Outlook
Express. This document is intended for first time users, although helpful for
computer fundies alike as a quick guide. For technicians that just quickly want
technical information, you can find it in the technical information section at
the end of this document. If at any time you struggle, do not hesitate to phone
your local Atlantic branch. Enough talking; lets begin. E-mail
in general Email works through the Internet, thus you must have a working
Internet connection. For information on creating an Internet connection, please
refer to relevant Internet setup documentation for your operating systems, such
as Windows. Also, if your Internet does not work properly, your email will not
work properly. Note that you will have an Internet
username and password and a separate email username and password, for example
you might have an Internet username such as atlantic0000@lantic.net and an email
username such as mymail. This is required so that the email computer, called a
server, can identify you and know which mail to send to you. The password is required
so that nobody else will be able to download your email, as you should keep the
password secret. Please check the following: - Again,
please verify that you have a working Internet connection.
If you do not have
one yet, you may want to refer to the Internet setup documentation first.
- Please note that this document is intended for
Microsoft Express versions 5 and 6, which comes with Windows and not Microsoft
Outlook, which comes with the Microsoft Office XP suite.
- Please
close all open programs for the set-up procedure to continue uninterrupted.
- Where Outlook Express versions 5 and 6 differs,
it will be explicitly shown.
- The pictures depicted
here might differ slightly from how they look on your computer.
You might
for instance have a Windows theme installed, which will change the whole look
and feel of your Windows. Also, this documentation was
created on Windows XP, which looks different from previous versions of Windows.
This does not imply that you will need Windows XP, only that the depicted pictures
might look slightly different. - To keep this
documentation uncomplicated, we will only make the necessary adjustments.
Thus,
if you see options that we do not cover in this document, they are non-critical
adjustments that should not interfere with your email. - If
